Why Use Chatbots for Lead Generation?

Chatbots convert significantly better than static forms because they feel like a conversation. Instead of a cold form, visitors are asked one question at a time, making completion rates dramatically higher. Landbot customers report 2–4× higher conversion rates on chatbot lead forms vs traditional web forms.

Step 1 – Build Your Lead Capture Flow

1

Start with a strong opener

Your first message sets the tone. Instead of "Fill in this form", try "Hi! Quick question — what brings you here today?" with 2–3 button options. This immediately segments the visitor.

2

Collect qualification data

Ask questions that tell you if this lead is a good fit: company size, budget range, timeline, or specific need. Store each answer in a variable (e.g., @company_size, @budget).

3

Capture contact details last

Ask for name and email only after the visitor has invested time in the conversation. By then, they're more committed and completion rates are higher.

4

Route based on qualification

Use a Condition block to split the flow. Hot leads (high budget, immediate need) → book a meeting block. Cool leads → add to email nurture sequence.

Keep it short: Aim for 5–7 questions max. Every extra question reduces completion rate. Focus only on the data you'll actually use to qualify or personalise follow-up.

Step 2 – Add Conditional Logic

Conditional logic is what makes Landbot flows intelligent. Add a Condition block anywhere in the flow to branch based on variable values.

1

Add a Condition block

Click + → Logic → Condition. Choose the variable to check (e.g., @budget) and set the rule (e.g., is greater than 500).

2

Set true and false paths

The "True" path goes to hot-lead actions (meeting booking, immediate CTA). The "False" path goes to nurture actions (email follow-up, content offer).

Step 3 – A/B Test Your Flow

Available on Starter and above. Landbot's A/B test block splits incoming traffic between two versions of your flow, so you can test different openers, question orders, or CTAs.

1

Add an A/B Test block

Click + → Logic → A/B Test. Set the traffic split (e.g., 50/50). Connect Version A and Version B to different flow branches.

2

Run for statistical significance

Let each variant accumulate at least 100 responses before drawing conclusions. Check completion rate and lead quality in the Analytics dashboard.

Step 4 – Sync Leads to Your CRM

1

HubSpot (Pro plan)

Add a HubSpot block at the end of your flow. Map Landbot variables to HubSpot contact properties. Leads are created or updated instantly in HubSpot on completion.

2

Airtable (Pro plan)

Use the native Airtable integration to push lead data into any Airtable base. Great for sales teams who manage pipelines in Airtable.

3

Zapier (all paid plans)

Use the Zapier block to connect to any CRM — Salesforce, Pipedrive, Zoho, ActiveCampaign — via a Zap trigger.
